The Sicily Calendar of Events in April covers the Holy Week rituals of the Sicilians during this solemn week and other religious practices in the island at the same time. We also included the feasts and food festivals during this month.

Are you coming to Sicily in April? Spring is already here. The flowers are blooming in their brightest colours. The weather is either great for strolling in the city centres or get lost in the narrow streets of Sicily’s medieval mountain villages. You will also enjoy walking on the sandy beach while admiring the views, the water is still chilly. But you can always brave the cold. We are also slowly ditching the heavy coats. Winter is not coming back. However, in case there are any changes, layering your clothes is the key. Bring a small umbrella for some rain showers too.
The middle part of April is all about the Holy week practices, the religious rituals as well as family traditions during Easter. There are also Spring and food festivals arranged in many towns. Caltagirone Spring
One-month Spring festival in Sicily as it marks not only the blooming of flowers but also the culture of Ceramics and Arts of Caltagirone. Ceramic craft is widespread in the entire region and even more in other parts of Italy.
Radicepura Garden Festival a Giarre – April 27th to October 27th
Sicily is the chosen venue for the International Garden event with Garden landscape art and architecture. The Radicepura botanical park with its 14 well-curated gardens is open for public viewing until October 27th
Infiorata a Termini Imerese
A one-week event from April 28th, May 4th and 5th. The historic centre of Termini Imerese is adorned with flower carpets around May 4th as well as the floral display and other street events will take place on May 5th.
Festa dei Fiori ad Acireale
The seaside town of Acireale is best known for its grand Carnivale, and the locals hold their creativity too during this Flower Spring Event in April. There are parades of large floral wagons and affairs to welcome Spring.
Cultural Spring
A series of events in Messina combined to promote the cultural heritage of the town, their history, folklore, authentic cuisines and wine productions.,
Food & Flower Weekend a Taormina
The town with the most charming balconies will even make their lovely space prettier. A weekend of flavorful foods and colourful flowers
Etna in Primavera a Zafferana Etnea
Zafferana Etnea is one of the nearest towns from Mount Etna and usually a stopping point when hiking the volcano. The town has Spring things to do for its transient guests.
Holy Week April 15 to 21
Holy Week is observed in Sicily as both a religious event and a short trip for families to bond. The kids are on Spring break and Easter Sundays are for reunions. Sicilians are Catholics in general, so many towns are still keeping their rituals for many years. Some are stricter and more intense than the others though. .
